Roar game Abandoned, Fire win QSLPosted: August 27, 2011
Its been a wet and windy couple of days here in Brisbane, and to be honest i was expecting this game to be called off from the very start, but we got 45mins in this afternoon at Perry Park against the Queensland State League North All-Stars, with Brisbane leading 1-0 at half time when the game was called off, with the QSL Grand Final to follow in mind. The pitch didnt look all that bad apart from the goal mouths but with a Grand Final also on the decision is understandable, if not a little bit disappointing.
For the Roars part they played a solid 45 minites with some slick passing and movement with the vast majority of the 1st team playing the ‘game’. Sayed Mohamed Adnan made his 1st start at the club next to Matt Jurman and looked reasonably comfortable in possession and seems to be fitting in nicley to the clubs way of play. Apart from that there wasnt really too much to take out of it, besides Mitch Nichols goal on 43 minites following a good ball thru from Massimo Murdocca, Nichols rounded the keeper and calmly slotted home. I should quickly add that it was good to see Backup keeper Andrew Redmayne get another game, even thou it took me 15 minites to realise it as him, as he is completly unrecognisable with his new haircut. Its not entirely relevant but here is todays starting 11.
Subs: Acton, Hingert, Brattan, Bush, Lambadaridis, Cijak
Also, congratulations to the Sunshine Coast Fire, who won their 3rd Queensland State League Championship with a 1-0 victory over hosts Brisbane Strikers. Gareth Musson gave the Fire the lead with about 15 minites remaining to secure the victory.
