The lead however lasted barely 90 seconds as Brisbane defender Kim Carroll brought down Canberra attacker Ashleigh Sykes and Matildas star Sally Shipard slotted the penalty into the corner past Casey Dumont. While the only goals of the half came in the first 10 minutes both sides created many a chances to take the lead but it remained 1-1 going into half time.
