Brisbane maul Strikers:Posted: August 8, 2013
Brisbane Roar:11 (Petratos x2, Berisha x2, Broich x2, Hingert, Murray, Miller, Theodore, OG)
Brisbane Strikers: 0
Brisbane have continued their pre-season preparations with an 11-0 win over the Strikers at Perry Park last night. I won’t run through the details of the goals, head over to the Pauly TV website in the coming days to see an extensive highlights program.
Roar were by far the superior side on the night; however it should be pointed out that an early injury to one of the Strikers players didn’t help things, and their goalkeeper didn’t have his greatest game in the opening half as Brisbane had chance after chance with the Strikers defence and keeper all at sea. They got slightly better in the 2nd half, but the damage was done. All up though- it was probably the least competitive pre-season game I’ve seen for the Roar. It was good however to see the progress from the first game against the Lions, the ball and player movement was much more fluid, however that is to be expected given the first team players are back now. Speaking of the line-up, here’s how they started.
Theodore, Murray and Theo came on in the second half for Doe, Berisha and Acton. There might have been other changes but I can’t recall who came on. A couple of notes on a few individuals to end on:
– Doe played in midfield (predominantly on the left) and while he moved well, his passing wasn’t the best. Still has a long ways to go.
– Ferreira showed his versatility by playing in the heart of defence next to Smith. Mind you he wasn’t overly tested.
– Liam Miller and Dimitri Petratos have slotted in well and seem to be combining well with Broich and Berisha.
The next pre-season hit-out is next Tuesday at Carmichael Park, Tingalpa against Wolves FC.
