Weekly former Brisbane Roar players wrap- 14/08/2013

Transfer movement:
Since the last update, three former players have secured a new deal with clubs- one of which is back in Brisbane as Matt McKay became the first player two sign for Brisbane for a 2nd time as the Australian marquee player. Joining Matt back in the A-League next season is Kiwi attacker Kosta Barbarouses who has joined Melbourne Victory- who now have 3 former Roar players on their books in Jason Geria, Mitch Nichols and Barbarouses. Finally, last weeks rumoured move of James Meyer to the Indian Premier League side Pune FC- I linked a video interview earlier today if you missed it.

Notable former players who are currently free-agents.
Kofi Danning (Uncontracted since agreeing to terminate the 2nd year of his deal with CS Vise)
Spase Dilevski (Uncontracted since his Melbourne Victory contract expired in May 2013)
Tae Yong-Shin (Uncontracted since his coaching contract with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma was terminated in November 2012)
Sayed Mohamed Adnan (Location unknown since his contract with Al Arabi expired)

Tommy Oar, Adam Sarota and Michael Zullo (FC Utrecht)

Groningen 2-0 Utrecht
12th in Eredivise (After 2 Rounds)

Only Tommy was involved in the game. He started, picked up a yellow card in the 40th min, and was subbed off after 82mins. Zullo and Sarota weren’t in the squad. They’re away to Twente next weekend.

Stef Nijland (PEC Zwolle)
Heracles 1-3 PEC Zwolle
4th in Eredivise (After 2 Rounds)

Zwolle have continued their dream start in the Eredivise after their promotion. They’ve got NEC Nijmegen away next week. Stef made his competitive debut this week, coming on in the 87th minute.

Robbie Kruse (Bayer Leverkusen)

3rd in German Bundesliga (After 1 Round)

Robbie was an unused sub as Bayer started their Bundesliga campaign. He’ll get another chance to make his Leverkusen debut next week away to Stuttgart

Ben Halloran (Fortuna Düsseldorf)
Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-2 1860 Munich
9th in 2.Bundesliga- (After 3 Rounds)

Ben wasn’t involved in the squad this week, and is still yet to make his competitive debut for Fortuna. They’ll travel to Union Berlin next week.

Steven Lustica (Hajduk Split)

Dila 1-0 (Europa League playoff- Leg 2)
*Dila win 2-0 on aggregate

4th in HNL (After 4 Rounds)
*1 game in hand

Hajduk are out of the Europa League after 1-0 losses home and away to Georgian side Dila. Steve wasn’t involved in the game. Canada finished bottom of Group A with a 1-0 loss to Martinique, 2-0 loss to Mexico and a 0-0 draw with Panama.

Issey Nakajima-Farran (Alki Larnaca)

Cypriot league starts August 31st. Alki begin at home to Aris.

A close season update on Issey. He was apart of the Canadian squad for the 2013 Gold Cup- won by the USA. Issey wasn’t involved against Martinique, played 62’ mins against Mexico and came on in the 81st against Panama.

Yuji Takahashi (Kyoto Sanga)

4th in J.2 League ( After 28 Rounds)
*7 points from an automatic promotion place

Takahashi wasn’t in the squad. They play Yokohama FC next week.

Do Dong-Hyun (FC Gifu)
Gifu 1-0 Vissel Kobe
22nd in J.2 League (After 28Rounds)

They’ll face Mito Hollyhock next week. Dong wasn’t in the squad. They’re now 2pts from safety.

Erik Paartalu (Tianjin Teda)

13th in Chinese Super League-(After 19matches)

Tianjin had the weekend off, they’ll face Shanghai SIPG next week.

Korean Republic:
Luke DeVere (Gyeongnam)

Gyeongnam 0-3 Suwon Bluewings
11th in K-League (After 22 rounds)

Luke was back in the starting line-up this week for just the 2nd time since his return from a knee injury, and he played the full 90 minutes. They’ll face Pohang away from home next weekend.

James Meyer (Pune FC)

Pune 2-0 Arrows
2nd in I-League (After 26 matches)

There’s only 2 matches left in the season from what I can see, the first of which is away to Mohun Bagan. James wasn’t involved for his new club.

Rocky Visconte (Suphanburi F.C.)

4th in Thai Premier League (After 20 Rounds)

Rocky started for his new team, however he was subbed off with 15mins remaining.

Sergio van Djik (Persib)

Persiba Balikpapan 1-1 Persib
4th in Indonesian Super League (After 29 matches)

No game this weekend.
