Stefanutto out with hamstring injuryPosted: October 30, 2013
Via ABC: Brisbane’s already depleted depth will be tested further with reportsthat left back Shane Stefanutto left training this morning with a hamstring strain. The injury occurred in what is a conditioning session for the Roar, with Mulvey uncertain of how serious the injury is. “Our conditioning sessions are pretty tribal. We push the players to the edge,” he said. “I am not sure what happened to him (Shane) at the moment but he is in there seeing the physio. “Injuries are part and parcel of football and test the depth of your team. “We are in a situation where we have to call on people who have not been playing on a regular basis.
It’s unknown as of yet how long the veteran fullback will be out for, but he adds to what is a lengthy injury list now consisting of Stefanutto, Berisha, Danning, Miller and Lambadaridis. Adding to the issue is a virus which has gone through the club, with in form Ivan Franjic the latest to be struck down with the virus, missing training today, and Brattan is no certainty to play. Corey Brown is the obvious replacement for Stefanutto and there probably wont be much of a drop of playing wise, the leadership and experience of an in form Stefanutto will be missed however. That young depth of Jackson, Borrello, Clut, Yeboah and Liftin will be needed this weekend by the look of it.
