Report: Sebastian Usai training with Brisbane

Via:Marco/Val Migliaccio. In their weekly Fox Sports column ‘In the Mixer’, Marco or Val (im honestly not sure which, probably Marco) has claimed that goalkeeper Sebastian Usai is currently back in Brisbane training with the A-League club. There is no insinuation that a contract would be offered to the player but it is interesting nevertheless. Here’s an exert from the blog.

FORMER Blackburn Rovers back-up goalkeeper Sebastian Usai is currently training with Brisbane Roar. Usai, who played four matches for the now defunct North Queensland Fury, returned to his home town of Brisbane at the completion of his Swedish third division commitments with AFC United.
The Roar have no plans to sign the 23-year-old gloveman, but it’s interesting to note that Brisbane’s second-choice keeper Matt Acton is off contract at the end of the season.

As they pointed out, Usai, 23 has some previous A-League experience with the North Queensland Fury aswell as in the Queensland Premier League with Brisbane Strikers before trying his luck and landing a deal with Championship side Blackburn Rovers. It didn’t work out for him in England -or Sweden- and with Brisbane having two goalkeepers currently contracted it’s unlikely a contract will be in the offing in the short term. Acton however is out of contract at seasons end, and Mulvey has welcomed other keepers in to train throughout the season -most notably former Aldershot keeper Jamie Young who featured in the Albany Creek game. It’s an interesting development, but im not sure anything will come of it.
