Preview: Brisbane Roar vs. Liverpool FC

This game represents the start of the 2015-16 season for Brisbane, one in which they’ll be looking to produce far better results and performances than last year. It will also be the first game in the John Aloisi era, while Jamie Maclaren will make his debut for Brisbane at some stage.

As mentioned earlier in the week, Brisbane will be without the services of Michael Theo, Luke DeVere and Matt McKay who are either injured (DeVere), rehabbing (Theo) or resting (McKay).

From the Liverpool perspective, this is game two of their pre-season as they look to return to the top four after a 6th placed finish last season. It’s a new looked squad that perhaps is lacking somewhat in star power, but the majority are international players who should still put on a show tomorrow night.

  1. David says:

is there a limit to the size of the squad (bench) for this game. I have heard unlimited interchange has been agreed.

    • Scott says:

Changes are unlimited as you mentioned, Liverpool will probably have a full change XI on their bench- Brisbane probably the same.

Not sure if there’s an number on it how many can sit on the bench though- possibly they’ll just go by the FIFA rules and say 23 man squads with 12 subs.

  2. Waz says:

Is Henrique fit? I thought he had major knee reconstruction?

    • Scott says:

Only heard about that at the ground yesterday. Hopefully he’s not too long out.

      • Waz says:

Another example of where the club are “lazy” with their communication – many fans were expecting to see Ricky and were surprised when he wasn’t at least on the bench. Having announced three players who would be missing but not Ricky it led many to false assumptions. Any chance on getting an update? Having had a similar op myself I’d expect 6 months out which takes him to Christmas maybe?

      • David says:

waz i agree. we need to get the communication going between the fans and the club. it was a friendly there was no tactical advantage to not letting people know that Henrique wasn’t going to play. To be frank for all we know he coud have even left the club. in addition no word on Solo either
