Theo, Solorzano out of Cup ClashPosted: August 5, 2015
Via Marco: Brisbane Roar are set to be without Goalkeeper Michael Theo and striker Jean Carlos Solórzano for next Tuesday’s FFA Cup Round of 32 clash with Western Sydney Wanderers down in Penrith. The duo both missed last months 2-1 loss to Liverpool.
Theo, who made just four competitive appearances last season due to a serious wrist injury is being left out, with the coaching staff opting for a more conservative approach in order to make sure he doesn’t re-injure the wrist. It’s likely that Theo will return to action via the pre-season games which were confirmed yesterday.
Solórzano meanwhile missed the Liverpool clash with a foot injury is far less certain to feature in the pre-season, while missing the first game is also a possibility.
Jamie Young will once again play in goals for the Roar, while new signing Jamie Maclaren will be expected to deliver the goals in the absence of Solórzano.
Brisbane’s young chargers will also get another chance to impress on the big stage, with Young Roar goalkeeper Denver Crickmore likely to be seated on the bench for the clash. One of the club’s young forwards like Abrahim Yango, Shannon Brady or Nicholas D’Agostino are also likely to get their chance off the bench.
