Dimitri Petratos has been named the young player of the month for January following some stellar form over the past few weeks.

Petratos has been an ever-present for Brisbane over the past month, starting four of the five games this month, with his performance against his former club Sydney FC last weekend the highlight.

All up this season Petratos has made 17 appearances this season -14 starts-, chipping in with two goals and three assists from his new role on the right hand side of a midfield three.

Petratos joins teammates Jamie Maclaren and Brandon Borrello in the running for the award, with former Sydney full-back Alex Gersbach the other player in the running to date.

To further players will be nominated for the months of February and March, with the winner to be announced at the annual A-League awards night in April.

Previous winners include former Brisbane winger Tommy Oar (2009-10), Mat Ryan (2010-11 & 2011-12), Adam Taggart (2013-14) and James Jeggo (2014-15).
