Brisbane to host Glory in last 32 of FFA Cup


Brisbane Roar have been drawn against fellow A-League side Perth Glory in the FFA Cup Round of 32. The fixture, for which the details will be announced in the coming days will be Brisbane’s first home tie in the competition and the second straight year the Roar have drawn an A-League opponent in the last 32.

The dates and venue for the game will be confirmed in the coming days, with Suncorp Stadium, QSAC, Robina Stadium and Perry Park all likely considerations.

Elsewhere in the State there are home games for Redlands United and Far North Queensland Heat, while Brisbane Strikers and Surfers Paradise Apollo will being their campaigns on the road.

The tie of the round from the Queensland perspective has to be the debut of NPL Queensland ladder leading Redlands United, who will host 2015-16 A-League double winners Adelaide United, most likely at Perry Park.

FNQ will also get a first home game at the third time of asking, drawing a home tie against NPL Northern NSW side Edgeworth Eagles, following trips to Melbourne and Sydney in previous years.

Brisbane Strikers however weren’t so lucky, drawn away from home for the third consecutive year in the Round of 32, this time facing a trip to the Northern Territory to take on Shamrock Rovers Darwin.

Surfers Paradise Apollo, Queensland’s surprise qualifier for the last 32 have been given a tough debut on the national stage, facing a trip to the nations capital to take on Canberra Olympic.
