Brisbane sign Joey Katebian on one year contractPosted: August 6, 2016
Fresh off of the signing of Young Roar Nicholas D’Agostino, have follow up with the signing of fellow young striker Joey Katebian.
Katebian, 20, joins Brisbane on a one season contract after leaving hometown club Melbourne Victory at the end of May.
After scoring 33 goals in 20 games for Victory’s youth side in the NPL 2 Victoria, Katebian made his A-League debut for the club against Central Coast Mariners. Katebian had been on a trial with the Roar for the past few weeks and played in the recent trial game on the Gold Coast against Western Sydney.
Katebian will provide competition for first choice striker Jamie Maclaren and the recently signed Nicholas D’Agostino upfront for John Aloisi this season.
The signing of Katebian takes the first team squad to 22 players, which leaves just one spot left in the squad of 23 although it’s likely two spots because Joe Caletti is likely to be on one of three allocated full-time youth contracts. With 22 players under contract, it’s now likely that any further additions will be from overseas with two visa spots still open.
