Former Players Wrap- 29/08/2016

Following last weeks former player wrap, one of the clubs defenders from the early days- Ben Griffin- got in touch with us to confirm he’s retired from playing football. Griffin made 26 appearances from 2006 to 2009.

Headlines
– Henrique joins Adelaide.
One of Brisbane’s all time favourite sons is back in the A-League, with the naturalised winger securing a one year deal with last years A-League Champions with an option for a second. Henrique joins Adelaide after a brief stint in Malaysia with Negeri Sembilan.

– Goals
Three players hit the back of the net over the last week for their respective clubs, with Mensur Kurtishi, Issey Nakajima-Farran and Andrija Kaluderovic all finding the back of the net.

Kurtishi made it two goals in as many games for First Vienna with a late equaliser for his new side. Here’s the goal.

Over in Lithuania, Andrija Kaluderovic opened the scoring early on for league leading Zalgiris in their 4-1 win over Suduva. No footage of the goal.

Meanwhile over in Malaysia, Issey Nakajima-Farran scored a late penalty to rescue a point for Terengganu against Pahang. Here’s the match highlights.

– Moon coaches all-stars
Foundation Queensland Roar midfielder Warren Moon was rewarded for a stellar season at BPL Premiers Lions FC by being named coach of the BPL Select side which lost 4-0 to the Roar at the weekend.

– Adnan wins Super Cup
Sayed Mohamed Adnan and his Al Hadd teammates won the 2016 Bahraini Super Cup this week with a 1-0 win over Muharraq. The new season in Bahrain begins in the coming days.
