Gielnik re-signs to boost W-League side ahead of new seasonPosted: October 24, 2016
Striker Emily Gielnik has re-signed with the Brisbane Roar ahead of the 2016-17 W-League season which is set to get underway in a little under two weeks.
Gielnik, 24, has been part of the W-League setup since 2010, amassing 28 goals in 63 games making Gielnik the seconde highest scorer in Brisbane’s 8 year history in the W-League.
Last season was another solid year with four goals in 13 games helping Belinda Wilson’s side reach the Semi-Finals after missing out the previous year.
Gielnik adds some much needed experience to the Brisbane attack ahead of the new season, with youngsters Malli Forbes and Cortnee Vine as alternatives to lead the line.
With Gielnik added to the side, the spine of the Brisbane side is looking strong, with just long time attacking midfielder Tameka Butt and New Zealand international Kristy Yallop remaining unsigned from the list of notable names left off the squad announced last Friday.
The addition of Gielnik takes the W-League side to 15 players, with the likelihood of further additions before the season kicks off on November 11 against Sydney FC.
