After their 2-0 win last night over Tampines Rovers, UFL Premier Division side Global FC have progressed to the next round of qualifying and will play Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium next Tuesday night.

Second half goals from Ahmad Azzawi and Misagh Bahadoran were enough to secure their trip to Australia, with the winning moving on to play Shanghai Shenhua the following Wednesday for a spot in the group stage.

For Brisbane’s previous incursions into Asian competition in 2011, 2012 and 2015, we took a look at the opposition to find out a little more about the club and their history, and were brining it back once again.

History
Global FC, based out of Cebu City, were founded back in 2000 with the club playing in the UFL Premier Division since its inception back in 2009. From 2017, Global will be participating in the Philippines Football League which replaces the old UFL Premier Division.

Since the clubs inception since the turn of the century Global have picked up three league titles and two Cups, making them the most successful club in the leagues history.

Honours
UFL Division 1 Champions- (2012, 2014, 2016)
