5 named in Young Socceroos squadPosted: January 31, 2017
Five players from the Young Roar set-up have today been named in the Young Socceroos squad for an upcoming training camp.
Goalkeeper Macklin Freke, full-back Dane Ingham, defender Aaron Reardon, midfielder Adam Sawyer and winger Daniel Leck were all named as part of the squad.
Im not sure what tournament the team are preparing for, with the Young Socceroos failing to qualify for this years u-20 World Cup in South Korea and the qualifying for the 2019 edition not set to get underway until 2018.
The only player named in Ufuk Talay’s 24 player squad with experience in the A-League is Melbourne City midfielder Dennis Genreau, with the rest all still awaiting their chance at the top level.
From a Brisbane perspective, of the five players named in this squad only Dane Ingham figures to be in any sort of contention for a first team debut, with the other four overlooked for the recently named ACL squad.
Brisbane’s five players in the squad is the equal most, with recently crowned NYL Champions Melbourne City also having five players in the squad. Each of the 10 teams in the NYL have at least one representative in the 24 player group.
The camp will however rule Ingham out of next weeks trip to China should Brisbane win their playoff against Global FC tonight, although it was always unlikely that he would feature in that game.
