Brisbane Roar have re-signed veteran defender Jade North on a one year deal, taking him through the 2017-18 A-League season.

North, 35 has been an ever-present in the Brisbane backline since his arrival in January 2013, making 110 appearances for the club.

This season Jade has remained a pillar of the backline, playing in 22 of Brisbane’s 23 games in all competitions this season, missing just the round 19 A-League clash against Melbourne City due to suspension.

He has also found himself getting used to another partnership at the heart of defence, with Luke DeVere returning to the fold and helping to form a solid foundation for the side.

The re-signing of North takes Brisbane’s 2017-18 squad to 16 players with all seven defenders who started the season locked in to return for next season.

There could still be some changes however with the recently signed Avram Papadopoulos having the chance to press his claims for a longer term deal, particularly with Daniel Bowles likely to miss the first half of next season due to his injury.

The focus now however is likely to be on the middle and front thirds, where there are a number of positions up for grabs and plenty of players out of contract including the likes of Thomas Broich and Jamie Maclaren.
