After an impressive win away from home in Canberra last week thanks to a second half goal from Tameka Butt, Brisbane Roar return home for a Sunday afternoon clash with Newcastle Jets at A.J. Kelly Park in Redcliffe.

Much was made of Brisbane’s lack of goals last season –a number which looks much improved this term-, at the other end the Roar conceded a club record 21 goals in 2016-17. This season Brisbane have conceded just five – four of those came in Round 2 against Perth- with three straight clean sheets emphasising the newfound defensive resolve.

Injury Update Nil.

Team news
Mel Andreatta has the luxury of a full squad available at her disposal this week with no injuries within the squad and will likely field the same team which performed so impressively in the nations capital last Sunday. That would mean experienced duo Amy Chapman and Ayesha Norrie would be on the outside looking in, but that only serves to outline the depth in talent in the Roar squad this season.

Expected Brisbane Roar XI- Arnold, Torpey, Polkinghorne, O’Brien, Pickett, Boureille, Butt, Gorry, Raso, Lloyd, Cheung.

Worth, Tathem, Toby, Gielnik.

Omitted- Chapman, Norrie.

The opposition Newcastle enter the weekend in fourth position on the table and have been going under the radar so far in season 2017-18 with three wins from five games so far this season. That run of wins includes a last start 2-1 win away from home against Adelaide United on Saturday night thanks to goals from Katie Stengel and Tori Huster.
